Louise graduated from Cardiff and started her career as a Nurse in the university Hospital of Wales in 1995. In 2006 Louise completed her MSc in Health Service Management and worked within a number of Health Boards in senior nursing roles before joining the Welsh Ambulance Service. Louise joined the Trust in August 2014 as the Head of Service for the Abertawe Bromoganwg HB area continuing onto the Assistant Director of Operations for the Trust and is currently the Interim Director of Operations for the Trust.
Louise is responsible for the delivery of the Emergency and Unscheduled Care Services across the 3.1 million population of Wales and ensuring the delivery of optimum clinical outcomes and clinically safe services. She provides strong leadership, managing 450,000 ambulance calls and incidents per annum and has the responsibility for 1700 staff at 88 ambulance stations and three Clinical Contact Centres across Wales.
Louise works collaboratively across the Trust, and wider health system to ensure appropriate strategies and plans are in place to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the Trust’s ambulance operations. These include the emergency, urgent and non-urgent fleet; clinical contact and resourcing centres; community first responder and co-responder schemes; operational resilience; business continuity and emergency planning functions.
Louise is passionate about developing staff to deliver on the objectives of the Trust and wider NHS and promotes this through visible and empathic leadership.
Louise is an ambassador for the Welsh Ambulance Service; she is self-assured, resilient and confident with a proven track record of delivering objectives in what can be very challenging situations.
