Wendy started her nursing career in 1988 specialising in Emergency Nursing and Trauma and Orthopaedics and in 1996 went on to qualify as a Health Visitor. From 2003 she held a number of senior clinical leadership roles for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, she was a Clinical Governance Lead, managed Community Nursing Services and was the Head of Nursing for Children and Young People. Wendy has also worked in Welsh Government on a project to develop an all Wales approach to health visiting.
In 2014, Wendy was successful in securing the role of Assistant Director of Quality and Nursing for the Trust. Key achievements include influencing the patient safety agenda on a national platform, leading the development of a Public Health Plan and developing a mental health strategy which included introducing mental health clinicians and a Trauma Risk Management (TRiM) programme for our staff. Wendy’s passion for nursing has also led to supporting the development of a nursing career framework.
