Welsh Ambulance Service announces College of Human & Health Sciences as Staff Awards 2017 co-sponsor

THE Welsh Ambulance Service is delighted to announce the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University as the co-sponsor of its Staff Awards 2017.

Every year the Trust holds a ceremony to recognise those colleagues with long service and good conduct, and celebrate the fantastic work taking place within the service.

This year’s ceremony will be held on 19 October 2017 at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru, and the service is proud to receive the college’s backing as event sponsor.

The College of Human and Health Sciences draws together the disciplines of health, nursing, midwifery, osteopathy, social care, social policy and psychology and is the largest provider of healthcare education in Wales.

Among a variety of subjects, they deliver courses in Paramedic Science, allowing students to learn in an environment with state of the art resources taught by lecturers with extensive practice experience.

As well as traditional awards, there are a number of category awards at the event, including the Working Together Award, Personal Excellence Award and new for 2017, the Patient’s Choice Award, which recognises ambulance staff and volunteers who have gone the extra mile in the line of duty.

More than 150 nominations were received after entries opened in May, tripling last year’s figure, and finalists will be contacted shortly.

The College of Human and Health Sciences will be sponsoring this year’s Chair’s Award, which recognises people working across teams and boundaries for the benefit of others.

Mick Giannasi, Chairman of the Welsh Ambulance Service, said: “It’s important to us that we take the time to recognise the excellent services our staff and volunteers deliver for the people of Wales.

“Our Staff Awards are always a memorable occasion and on the evening we will hear some inspirational stories of the hard work and achievements of our colleagues.

“We’re extremely pleased that College of Human and Health Sciences has chosen to support this special event, and we know their backing will help our stars to shine.”

Chantal Patel, Head of Interprofessional Studies at the College of Human and Health Sciences, said: “Swansea University’s College of Human and Health Sciences is delighted to support the 2017 WAST Staff Awards because, as a college, we are committed to working in partnership to improve patient outcomes.”
